The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) is an international financial organisation composed of 60 central banks and monetary authorities. BIS's goal is to ensure monetary and financial stability through cooperation among its members. It also provides research and statistics, as well as seminars and workshops.
BIS's activities in the Internet field are mainly conducted by the Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructures (CPMI), which undertakes reserach and issues guidelines on aspects such as e-money, virtual currencies, and the cybersecurity of financial infrastructures.
