New compensation programme to help combat e-waste
TCO Development, the organisation behind the global sustainability certification TCO Certified, a sustainability certification for IT products, has developed a solution that would give purchasing organisations the opportunity to take responsibility for the e-waste they generate. When they buy an IT product certified according to the TCO Certified Edge criterion called E-waste Compensated, an equivalent amount of e-waste is collected in a country that is lacking in safe recycling systems. The collected e-waste is then transported to formal recycling facilities.
E-waste Compensated is available for notebooks, smartphones and tablets.
