Japan to support the industrial uses of generative AI

The Japan Fair Trade Commission has designated Apple, iTunes K.K., and Google under a new law aimed at preventing market dominance in areas like app stores and search engines.

Japanese Prime Minister (PM) Fumio Kishida announced Japan’s commitment to support the industrial uses of generative artificial intelligence (AI). The statement follows a meeting between PM Kishida and the chief executive of Microsoft. The Group of Seven (G7) will reportedly address the topic of international governance of generative AI at the G7 Summit in Hiroshima. A vital step as governments around the world are taking steps to regulate AI technologies.The G7 Summit 2023 will be hosted by Japan in May.
