Chinese hackers suspected of a cyberattack on Slovenian Foreign Ministry

The China-linked hacker group, Vixen Panda, was identified as the most likely attacker of the Foreign Ministry of Slovenia.

China has launched its international digital RMB centre in Shanghai, introducing platforms for cross-border payments, blockchain services, and digital assets.

A new report suggests that Chinese hackers targeted the Foreign Ministry of Slovenia in a recent cyberattack and were particularly interested in policy documents. The China-linked hacker group, Vixen Panda, was identified as the most likely attacker. The hackers targeted two servers communicating with foreign ministries in multiple European countries. The Ministry’s IT system was shut down immediately after the attack was discovered, and the investigation is ongoing.

The Foreign Ministry has not yet spoken to the Chinese ambassador, as there was ‘no confirmation about which country is behind the attack’.
