Smart Africa launches digital academy to curbing the digital divide in Africa

Smart Africa launched the Smart Africa Digital Academy to address the digital divide in Africa by offering capacity-building and skills development activities to empower African citizens in benefiting from digital transformation. The academy’s focus includes raising digital awareness, developing 21st-century skills, offering demand-driven skills, and creating an agile regulatory regime. The initiative targets five strategic areas: capacity building, advanced IT training, specialized training in digital technologies, STEM education, and ICT literacy for all.

To promote digital transformation in Africa, the Smart Africa Alliance kicked off the Smart Africa Digital Academy (SADA), a dynamic pan-African learning ecosystem aimed at capacity-building and skills development activities to enable African citizens to benefit from digital transformation. To this aim, SADA’s activities focus on raising digital awareness, developing 21st-century skills, developing demand-driven skills, and enabling policy and decision-makers toward an agile regulatory regime for Africa. This will be achieved through five strategic areas including capacity building; information technology (IT) advanced training; specialised training in digital technologies; science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEAM) in Education; and information and communication technology (ICT) literacy for all.
