Russia to allow biometric registration of taxi and car sharing company drivers
Taxi and car sharing companies can collect biometric information of drivers for identification and authentication. This is after the Government of the Russian Federation passed Decree No. 1815 on the collection and processing of biometric personal data by non-financial institutions.The companies will however require accreditation from the Ministry of Digital Science to ensure compliance with standards for biometric data processing. The law comes into force in March 2022.
