Summary
The World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA-08) highlights the critical importance of ICT infrastructure and the increased vulnerability of converged legacy and IP networks to cyberincidents. It recognizes the need for robust security standards, such as ITU-T Recommendations X.1205 and X.805, and international cooperation to mitigate cybersecurity risks. The assembly resolves that ITU-T should continue evaluating and improving Recommendations for security, raising awareness, promoting international cooperation, and collaborating with other bodies. It instructs the Telecommunication Standardization Bureau to harmonize global cybersecurity strategies and report progress annually. The Director is further instructed to engage with WSIS activities and other relevant initiatives to enhance global cybersecurity efforts. Member States and relevant parties are invited to actively participate in implementing these resolutions and actions.
