The UK Intellectual Property Office guidelines on the classification of non-fungible tokens (NFTs), virtual goods, and services provided in the metaverse

The UK Intellectual Property Office has released updated trademark guidance for NFTs, virtual goods, and virtual services, including those provided in the metaverse, to offer clarity for those applying for trademark specifications containing these terms. The guidance also includes acceptable ways to frame these terms and the correct classification. The IPO has recognised that these terms represent new forms of goods and services in a rapidly advancing technological field and will continue to update this guidance as new developments arise.
