The EU Space Programme

Author: The European Commission

The Space Programme supports the EU Space policy in the domain of earth observation, satellite navigation, increasing connectivity and space research and innovation. Existing flagship components include Copernicus (the European Earth Observation System), Galileo (a global satellite navigation and positioning system (GNSS)), and Egnos (the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service). The Commission further proposed two flagship initiatives in February 2022, Space Traffic Management (STM) and the EU space-based secure connectivity system. The latter aims to support critical infrastructure, surveillance and crisis management and high-speed broadband coverage for all of Europe.
