Summary

Since a pluralistic democratic society requires ample space for interaction, deliberation and debate on matters of importance and interest to the population, all members of society, including national minorities should be able to access those spaces without discrimination and participate effectively in the deliberation that takes place in them. “The Tallinn Guidelines on National Minorities and the Media in the Digital Age” provide recommendations for ensuring the media representation of national minorities in the digital era. These guidelines aim to address issues such as Enabling Environment for Freedom of Expression and Media Freedom, Media Environment, Pluralism and Diversity and Media, Information Technologies and Conflict Prevention.
