Rwanda’s National Cyber Security Policy

Regulations and Policies

Rwanda’s National Cyber Security Policy was formulated with the aim of fostering an environment that fosters trust and assurance in the use of ICT while empowering the nation to safeguard its interests and uphold national security.

The policy is developed in line with national, regional, and international recommendations on cybersecurity, including the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Africa Union (AU), and East Africa Community (EAC) recommendations.

The policy establishes the National Cyber Security Agency, tasked with coordinating nationwide efforts to build a secure and resilient Rwandan cyberspace. The agency’s responsibilities encompass countering evolving cyber threats, safeguarding personal data, and ensuring the privacy of individuals within Rwanda. Moreover, the NCSA oversees the enforcement of legislation pertaining to the protection of personal data and privacy. Collaborating with diverse partners, the NCSA plays a pivotal role in ensuring a secure cyberspace for Rwanda.
