Resolutions and Declarations

The resolution acknowledges a positive trend in global connectivity and affordability of ICTs, with special regard to the beneficial services this may bring. It further addresses the challenges faced by developing countries, and the failures of ICT. Nevertheless, the resolution recognizes the potential of ICT to provide new solutions to development challenges, to ‘foster sustained, inclusive and equitable economic growth and sustainable development, competitiveness, access to information and knowledge, poverty eradication and social inclusion’. Lastly, the document stresses the important role of a variety of actors, including private sector, national governments and the UN itself, while urging cooperation and contribution to elevate the use of ICT for sustainable development goals.
