July 2018
Policy Reports
Summary
The “eTrade for all” initiative, launched at the 2016 UNCTAD Ministerial Conference, aims to leverage the digital economy to support the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, specifically goals 5, 8, 9, and 17. This initiative focuses on enhancing the capacity of developing countries to engage in and benefit from e-commerce by addressing seven key policy areas, including e-commerce readiness assessment, ICT infrastructure, trade logistics, payment solutions, legal frameworks, access to financing, and skills development. Rapid assessments are conducted upon request to analyze the current state of e-commerce in participating countries, such as Senegal, to identify opportunities and challenges. These assessments contribute to international discussions on e-commerce and digital economies, particularly for Least Developed Countries (LDCs). The initiative aims to support Senegal and other LDCs in building robust, secure, and business-friendly e-commerce ecosystems.
