Given that the employment relationship has become challenging in the past few decades, in 2006, ILO took the initiative to adopt the Employment Relationship Reccomendation. The Recommendation defines social dialogue as the ideal means to achieve consensus on resolving questions relating to the scope of the employment relationship at the national level. The document that serves as a guide to Recommendation No.198, among other things, explores national policy on the protection of workers in an employment relationship, criteria for identifying an employment relationship as well as appropriate dispute resolution mechanisms.
