On the free use of cryptographic tools for (self)protection of EU citizens

The short paper looks into the impact of the use of encryption tools on law enforcement activities. It argues that, while such tools might make lawful interception harder or less efficient, limiting their use will create vulnerabilities that can in turn be used by criminals and terrorists, and lower the trust in electronic services.
