Strategies and Action Plans
The Digital Strategy for Cyprus 2020-2025, serves as the main policy framework to accelerate Cyprus’ digital transformation. This strategy is built on a forward-looking vision that positions Cyprus as a future-ready, knowledge-based economy and society. Leveraging digital and emerging technologies, Cyprus aims to foster sustainable economic growth and social prosperity and enhance international competitiveness.
To realise this vision, four strategic objectives have been outlined:
- Technology that benefits people
- A vibrant, sustainable, and resilient digital economy
- An open, democratic, and inclusive digital society
- A green, digital transition for Cyprus
The strategy details a comprehensive approach to national digital transformation, focusing on key areas: government, society, and the economy. These efforts are facilitated through the concept of ‘Government as a Platform.’ Four strategic portfolios have been developed to coordinate the various initiatives under the digitalisation action plan:
- Digital government portfolio: Focuses on transforming government operations, with initiatives aimed at upskilling and reskilling public sector employees to improve digital competencies.
- Digital infrastructure [ortfolio: Supports the modernisation of national infrastructure to enhance digital capabilities.
- Digital economy portfolio: Promotes initiatives that drive economic transformation through digitalisation.
- Digital society portfolio: Aims to foster a more inclusive and digitally empowered society.
These portfolios ensure a targeted, well-organised approach to driving Cyprus’ digital future.
