The Code of Practice on Disinformation is a self-regulatory Code that was introduced by the European Commission and that is aimed at fighting the spread of online disinformation. It set a broad range of commitments such as transparency in political advertising, closure of fake accounts and demonetization of purveyors of disinformation. It was signed by representatives of online platforms, leading social networks, advertisers and advertising industry.
