The focus is on enhancing government operations, fostering collaboration, and building trust in public services through innovative technologies and improved digital infrastructure.
Vision and goals
The vision for Belize’s National Digital Agenda is to build trust in government services by delivering reliable, inclusive, and efficient digital solutions that meet the expectations of citizens, businesses, and government employees.
- Develop a digital culture and society by fostering innovation, equipping public servants and citizens with digital skills, and supporting private-sector transformation.
- Build the foundation for future digital transformation by enhancing infrastructure to ensure accessibility and connectivity for all.
- Transform the way government operates to reduce bureaucracy, increase efficiency, and create an open, data-driven, and collaborative culture.
Pillars and strategic themes
- ICT and technology enablers: This includes improving connectivity, digital infrastructure, and horizontal platforms to support government operations.
- Digital government: The focus is on creating intuitive digital services, promoting good governance through transparency, and ensuring cybersecurity.
- Digitalization for recovery: Programs under this pillar address the economic and health impacts of COVID-19 by promoting ICT skills, fostering innovation, and integrating digital tools in key sectors.
Implementation strategies
The agenda emphasises the importance of collaboration among government entities, the private sector, and international organisations to ensure a unified approach to digital transformation. Updating legislative frameworks is also prioritised to support digitalization initiatives, such as data protection and interoperability among institutions.
The success of this agenda is reliant on strong institutional frameworks led by the E-Governance and Digitalization Unit. This unit coordinates efforts, ensures resource allocation, and manages partnerships to execute high-impact programs.
Regular monitoring and evaluation mechanisms are included to assess progress, allowing for adaptive strategies based on emerging challenges and opportunities.
The agenda is designed to create an inclusive digital ecosystem, fostering trust and enabling efficient service delivery while preparing Belize for sustained digital transformation.
