2012 Asean Regional Forum Statement by the Ministers of foreign affairs on Cooperation in Ensuring Cyber Security, was adopted in Cambodia on 12 July 2012.
It recognizes the importance of all ARF participants taking systematic steps to protect their national information infrastructures, taking into account UN General Assembly resolutions aimed at combating the use of ICTs for criminal or terrorist purposes, as well as for purposes inconsistent with the goals of maintaining international stability and security. Identifying that trust and security in the use of ICT’S are important pillars of the information society and that a strong global culture of cyber security must be encouraged, promoted, and developed. It also underlines the need to bolster coordination and cooperation among ARF participants in strengthening security in the use of ICTs.
