The Global ICT Capacity Building Symposium (CBS) will take place on 18–20 June 2018 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The symposium is being organised by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
The Symposium will bring together stakeholders from across the world to discuss trends and developments in the sector and their implications for capacity building and human skills development in the field of information and communications technology (ICT). Drawing on a global network of expertise from different regions and stakeholders, a major objective of CBS will be to strengthen collaboration between ITU, the business sector, the academic community, and other partners in developing capacities for the digital future.
CBS is targeted to high-level government officials, telecommunication regulators, international and regional organisations, private sector companies, representatives from universities and research insitutions and other experts in ICT capacity building. Topics to be addressed include, inter alia:
- Identifying core skills required for the digital economy
- Policy implications for achieving the sustainable development goals (SDGs) in a digital world
- Leveraging partnerships in capacity building for the digital era
- Fostering entrepreneurship and innovation in the digital era
