The virtual launch of the new Coalition for Digital Environmental Sustainability (CODES) will take place online on 31 March, 10-11.30am EDT.
The Coalition, initiated by UNEP, UNDP, the International Science Council, the German Environment Agency, the Kenyan Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Future Earth and Sustainability in the Digital Age, will lead a global multi-stakeholder process and convene a series of events to firmly anchor environmental sustainability needs within the Secretary-General’s Roadmap on Digital Cooperation.
The Coalition process will help stakeholders focus on five levels of action and collaboration:
- Global environmental intelligence – monitoring and predicting
- Efficiency and effectiveness of products, services and value chains
- Sector, systems and whole of society transformations – managing sustainability brakes and accelerators
- Societal innovations - learning and cooperating across the globe
- Digital rebound effects
