UN Human Rights Council – 35th Session

The 35th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) will be held on 6-23 June 2017, at the Palais des Nations, in Geneva, Switzerland.

During the session, high-level discussions will be held on various human rights related issues, such as: the right to privacy, rights of persons with disabilities, rights of minorities, and rights of children. The Council will also discuss a report of UN High Commissioner for Human Rights on ways to bridge the gender digital divide from a human rights perspective, as well as a report of the Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of the right to freedom of opinion and expression. 

The Human Rights Council holds three regular sessions a year, for a total of at least ten weeks. They take place in March (four weeks), June (three weeks) and September (three weeks). If one third of the Member States requests so, the Human Rights Council can decide at any time to hold a special session to address human rights violations and emergencies.
