UN Forum on Business and Human Rights

29 Nov 2021

The UN Forum on Business and Human Rights will take place on 29 November to 1 December 2021.

2021 marks the 10th anniversary of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and this will form the central theme of the 2021 Forum. This milestone provides an opportunity to look back at progress and challenges to-date and, more importantly, to inspire a renewed push for scaled-up global implementation by States and businesses in the decade ahead. This year's theme is 'The next decade of business and human rights: increasing the pace and scale of action to implement the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights'.

The UN Forum on Business and Human Rights is the annual global platform for stocktaking and lesson-sharing on efforts to move the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights from paper to practice since 2011. It provides a unique space for dialogue between governments, businesses, civil society, affected groups, and international organisations on trends, challenges, and good practices in preventing and addressing business-related human rights impacts.

At the forum, civil society organisations, affected stakeholders, and businesses alike have called on states to step up action, through strengthened regulation, improved policy coherence, and leading by example.
