Symposium on the Future Networked Car 2018

The 13th edition of the Symposium on the Future Networked Car will be held on 8 March 2018, in Geneva, in the framework of the 88th Geneva International Motor Show. The event is organised by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), and will bring together representatives of vehicle manufacturers, the automotive and information and communication technology (ICT) industries, governments, and regulatory authorities to discuss the status and future of vehicle communications and automated driving.​

The symposium will focus on examining business, technological, and regulatory dimensions of connected vehicles and automotive innovation. It will also explore the relationship between vehicle communications and automated driving, analysing the crucial roles of connectivity, cybersecurity, blockchain, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence (AI). Anther topic of discussion will be related to the collaboration between standards bodies and the industry with a view to achieve interoperability.​

A high-level roundtable will feature discussions on connected and automated vehicles at the cross-road to success. Other panels will explore issues such as ubiquitous connectivity (5G, AI, and big data), cybersecurity impact and outlook for automotive systems, and the deployment of automated mobility services.
