The Science Summit 2025 will take place from 9 to 26 September 2025 in New York and online, alongside the 80th UN General Assembly (UNGA80).

The summit will focus on the role of science in advancing the SDGs and supporting the 2030 Agenda. Under the theme ‘Science for a Sustainable Future’, the event will explore how research, innovation, and international cooperation contribute to addressing global challenges.

A series of sessions will examine how AI is shaping global health, scientific discovery, and governance, with a strong focus on equity, ethics, and sustainable development. Discussions will range from AI in healthcare—including epidemic preparedness, tuberculosis control, disability care, and wastewater surveillance—to broader systemic issues such as responsible governance, tackling disinformation, scaling AI innovations in the Global South, and building resilient healthcare systems under climate stress. Several sessions will highlight youth, women, and Global South perspectives, showcasing inclusive approaches to AI in research, education, and community-based innovation. Others address cybersecurity, trust-building, and policy frameworks, stressing the importance of transparency, collaboration, and ethical guardrails.

Cross-cutting themes will include the need to strengthen data standards, interoperability, and science infrastructure while ensuring that AI advances align with the UN SDGs.

Notably, on 25 September 2025, there will be a full-day Quantum Science and Technology Plenary. This session aims to facilitate international collaboration across nations, industries, and policymakers, addressing equitable access and cooperation in advancing quantum technologies.
