ITU Telecom World 2017
ITU Telecom World 2017 will be held on 25-28 September, in Busan, South Korea. Organised by the International Telecommunication Union, the event is intended to serve as a platform to accelerate ICT innovations for social and economic development through exhibiting solutions, sharing knwoledge, and fostering collaboration among stakeholders.
ITU Telecom World will include several components: a forum for discussions on policies, strategies, business models, and technologies shaping the ICT industry; an exhibition showcasing prpjects and initiatives from companies, countries, investors, and innovators; and the ITU Telecom Awards, recognising excellence in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and large companies worldwide. The event will focus on fostering and supporting the success of SMEs in the ICT ecosystem as key stakeholedrs driving socio-economic growth and job creation throughout the world.
Held under the overarching theme of 'Smart digital transformation, global opportunities', the forum will feature discussions on the following key issues: transforming the ICT sector (new digital technologies, opportunities for new business models, the impact of 5G and the Internet of Things, new regulatory policies, innovation, etc.), shaping smart industries (the fourth industrial revolution, smart cities, artificial intelligence, digital finance, connected cars, the creative economy, etc.), and digital citizens (equal opportunities in the digital era, in areas such as digital content, public administration, data ownership, and e-skills).
The event will bring together a wide range of stakeholders, including ministers of ICT and any related sector such as finance, health, education, energy; regulators of ICT, data, and any related sector; exhibitors from nations, companies, and organisations around the world; SMEs, entrepreneurs, and innovators; industry CEOs and investors; non-governmental organisations; academics, consultants, and digital thinkers; and media.
