The United Nations Commission on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) is organising the fifth session of the Intergovernmental Group of Experts on E-commerce and the Digital Economy which will take place at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland from 27 to 29 April 2022.

The event represents a gathering of expert discussions on the value and role of data in electronic commerce (e-commerce) and the digital economy, and its implications for inclusive trade and development.

The session will take place during UNCTAD E-commerce Week 2022, which has the overall theme of “Data and digitalization for development”. The substantive agenda items for the session are:

  • Recovering from COVID-19 in an increasingly digital economy: Implications for sustainable development;
  • Working Group on Measuring E-commerce and the Digital Economy.
