ICANN: Internationalized Domain Name (IDN) Implementation Guidelines
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is inviting public comment on the latest version of Internationalized Domain Names (IDN) Implemetation Guidelines (version 4.0), which relate to IDN registration policies and practices, designed to minimise the risk of cybersquatting and consumer confusion, and to respond to the interests of communities using local languages and scripts.
Version 3.0 of the IDN Implementation Guidelines, updated in 2011, was reviewed by a Working Group (WG) formed in October 2015. The WG updated the Guidelines and conducted a first public consultation in March 2017. Community input received during this consultation was reflected in a further updated version of the Guidelines, which is now again subject to public consultation. The community is invited to provide general feedback, as well as to respond to several specific questions highlighted in the draft.
Comments will be reviewed for inclusion in a final version of the Guideines, to be presented to the ICANN Board of Directors for approval.
