High-level Meeting on Financing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development
The UN Secretary-General’s High-level Meeting on Financing the 2030 Agenda will precede the 73rd UN General Assembly. On 27 July 2018, the UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed explained the three action areas on which the meeting will focus on: building momentum and political support at all levels; stepping up engagement with the private sector; and, making the most of innovative solutions to finance the sustainable development goals (SDGs). The meeting will be structured as follows: an opening address by the Secretary‑General, followed by three interactive 'Davos-style' panel discussions with heads of state and government, CEOs in the area of private finance, and technological innovators to address: aligning global financial and economic policies with the 2030 Agenda, to spur political momentum to foster the mobilisation of resources; enhancing sustainable financing strategies and mobilising private investment for sustainable development; and fintech efforts to advance financial inclusion on the ground, with the aim of seizing the potential of financial innovations, new technologies and digitalisation to provide equitable access to finance.
The meeting will take place at the UN Headquarter in New York on 24 September 2018.
