ESCAP Committee on Information and Communications Technology, Science, Technology and Innovation
The first session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific's Committee of Information and Communications Technology, Science, Technology and Innovation will be held on 5-7 October 2016, in Bangkok, Thailand.
During the two-day meeting, the Commission will discuss, among others, policy issues in the area of information and communications technology, as well as science, technology and innovation. Some of the specific topics to be addressed include: the Asia-Pacific information superhighway; a regional review of the implementation of the World Summit on the Information Society action lines; space applications as a critical tool for enhanced e-resilience; regional capacity-building on information and communications technology for development; an action agenda for science, technology, and innovation for sustainable development in Asia and the Pacific.
