The first International Congress Cibersociedad 2017 will be held on 16-20 October, in Varadero, Matanzas, Cuba. The event is organised by the Union of Informatics Professionals of Cuba, and it will focus on what various actors should undertake today in the field of information and communications technologies to build a human-centred future. 

Under the overarching theme 'Let's dream and act', the four-day event will feature discussions on topics falling within one of the following areas: government, economic development, infrastructure, innovation, environment and sustainability, human development, and culture and entertainment. More specifically, topics to be addressed include, among others, cloud computing, big data, artificial intelligence, smart machines and robotics, Internet of Things and smart cities, virtual reality and augmented reality, cognitive intelligence, enterprise and government architecture, industry 4.0, cybersecurity, open data and standards, and emergent platforms for development. A call for contributions to the scientific sessions included in the event programme has been launched and will stay open until 15 June.

In addition to the main programme, Cibersociedad 2017 will include the following: a Solutions Fair (aimed at encouraging mobile applications, video games, citizen services, and other informatics and electronic applications that contribute to information society), the first meeting of Associations of Informatics Professionals (aimed at encouraging exchanges on knowledge management, training, certification, accreditation, member services, innovation, public policies and commercialization, among other themes of common interest), and a Forum on ICT Civil Society (designed to facilitate interaction between different stakeholders).
