Bosnia and Herzegovina IGF 2025

The BH Internet Governance Forum (BHIGF) 2025 will take place in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, bringing together government officials, civil society, technical experts, journalists, and other stakeholders to discuss Internet governance, digital rights, and online safety. The forum provides a platform for dialogue on regional and global digital policy, connecting local experiences to broader internet governance discussions.
The programme will open with participant registration, a brief introduction to BHIGF, and keynotes from UNESCO and OSCE representatives. Morning sessions will include From Talk to Action, highlighting successful collaborations between local IGFs and Network Operator Groups in shaping policy, particularly in line with SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).
Subsequent panels will focus on journalism and the safety of reporters, addressing online harassment, surveillance, and threats to journalists in the Balkans, followed by discussions on disinformation in the regional media space, promoting media literacy, fact-checking, and responsible platform governance.
Afternoon sessions will examine regulatory readiness and institutional capacities for aligning domestic frameworks with the EU Digital Services Act, exploring cross-sector coordination and governance challenges. Throughout the forum, participants will hear from experts, journalists, regulators, and civil society representatives, sharing insights on building a resilient, inclusive, and accountable digital environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the wider region.
