Africa Summit on Women and Girls in Technology

The 2016 Africa Summit on Women and Girsl in Technology will be held on 13-14 September, in Accra, Ghana. The event is co-organised by the Alliance for Affordable Internet, the World Wide Web Foundation, the Ghana­-India Kofi Annan Center of Excellence in ICT, the African Development Bank, and UN Women.

The summit will explore how technology policies and plans can bridge the digital gender gap in Africa, and further the rights and interests of African women and girls. The discussions will focus on issues such as: affordable broadband, women’s rights online, digitale ducation and skills, and digital entrepreneurship. 

The programme of the event will include keynote speeches, panel discussions with and on women leaders in technology and technology policy, break-out sessions around focus areas and key goals, and visual and digital showcase of women-led technology initiatives.
