The National Cyber Security Policy 2021 of Pakistan aims to secure the nation’s digital assets and critical infrastructure. The policy envisions a strong, secure, and evolving digital ecosystem, focused on safeguarding the integrity of information systems while promoting socioeconomic development and national security.
It emphasises the need for a centralised governance system through the Cyber Governance Policy Committee (CGPC), which will oversee national cybersecurity matters. This committee is responsible for forming strategies, implementing security measures, and coordinating national responses to cyber threats.
To ensure the protection of critical national infrastructure, the policy introduces mandatory security standards and risk management processes. It calls for public-private partnerships to foster collaboration between government, industry, and academia. This cooperation is key to creating robust cybersecurity resilience against emerging cyber threats.
The policy also focuses on developing local solutions through research and development, reducing Pakistan’s dependence on foreign technologies. It highlights the need for global cooperation, encouraging active participation in international cybersecurity forums.
Capacity development is another aspect of the policy. By promoting cybersecurity education and awareness programs, it aims to create a culture of cybersecurity.
