Australian Internet Governance Forum

10 Jun 2015 - 10 Jul 2015

Melbourne, Australia

The  2015 Australian Internet Governance Forum will be held in Melbourne on 6-7 October, with the theme ‘How the Internet is transforming Australian society’. The auIGF is the one event a year where individuals, community groups, industry leaders, government representatives, academics, students, media – all Internet users – gather to discuss Internet-related issues in Australia.

Developed by auDA (.au Domain Administration Ltd), the auIGF provides a unique opportunity for all who use the Internet in Australia to share ideas and experiences, discuss Internet-related policy, identify issues and engage with each other in a multi-stakeholder forum.

Each year auIGF draws up a suggested list of current topics which are important to cover in the auIGF’s plenary sessions. Topics that we are covering for 2015 include: ‘Gender and the Internet’ (opportunities, empowerment, accountability and obstacles), ‘Internet and indigenous communities’ (the inclusivity and engagement divide), ‘Internet, innovation and the third sector’ and ‘Internet and the law’ (data retention and national security legislation).

The Australian Internet Governance Forum (auIGF) is based on a global multi-stakeholder model originally established by the United Nations.

The 2015 auIGF will be held on 6 & 7 October at the Park Hyatt, Melbourne. It is proudly presented and hosted by .au Domain Administration Ltd (auDA).

The inaugural auIGF was held in Canberra on 11 & 12 October 2012 and attracted over 250 stakeholders. The 2013 auIGF was held in Melbourne on 16 & 17 October. Building on the success of the previous year, it attracted 280 stakeholders. The 2014 auIGF was held at Crown in Melbourne on 26 & 27 August and saw over 300 people attend, our greatest attendance numbers to date.
