ICANN: GNSO Community Comment 2 (CC2) on New gTLD Subsequent Procedures Policy Development Process

22 Mar 2017 - 22 May 2017

Online

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is seeking public comment on a community comment 2 (CC2) questionnaire developed by the Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO) New gTLD Subsequent Procedures Policy Development Process Working Group.

The working group was established within the framework of the GNSO with the aim to determine what changes or additions need to be made to existing policy recommendations concerning new generic top-level domains (gTLDs).  The PDP WG began its deliberations by preliminarily considering a set of 6 subjects that it considers high level and foundational in nature (which the PDP WG called overarching issues). The PDP WG has already sought community input on those overarching issues in the form of Community Comment 1. The PDP WG has since created four work tracks that are responsible for considering the remaining subjects within its charter and is now seeking input on those subjects as part of the working group’s second Community Comment process (or CC2). The four work tracks are: (1) overall process, support, and outreach; (2) legal, regulatory, and contractual requirements; (3) string contention objections and disputes; and (4) Internationalised Domain Names and technical and operational.

Following review of public comments received on this questionnaire, the Working Group will integrate public comments received in developing its recommendations for inclusion in its initial report.
