G20 Consumer Summit

The G20 Consumer Summit will be held on 14-15 March 2017, in Berlin, Germany. The event will be held as part of the Germany presidency of the G20, and will be jointly organised by the German federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection, Consumers International, and the Federation of German Consumer Organisations.

Under the theme ‘Building a digital world consumer can trust’, the summit will focus on the importance of consumer protection and empowerment in the digital economy. Topics to be addressed during the discussions include G20′ works on digitalisation; global consumer protection in the digital era and the UN role; how consumers can be protected and empowered online, and how collectively people’s rust in digital can be built; digital challenges and opportunities facing consumers; innovative solutions to key consumer issues in the digital age (inclusion, consumer clarity and control over the use of their online data, online security, fairness and trust in online services, and legal frameworks).
