ITU Workshop on Consumer Protection in a Digital Collaborative Economy

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is organising a workshop on ‘Consumer protection in a digital collaborative economy’, on 10-11 November 2016, in Chongqing, China. The event is organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology or the People’s Republic of China, and is to be held in the context of the work of the ITU Telecommunication Development Sector (ITU-D) Study Group 1 on ‘Consumer information, protection and rights: Laws, regulations, economic bases, consumer networks’, and its expert meeting scheduled for 9 November.

The workshop will feature discussions on the questions and opportunities brough by the Internet of Things and other emerging technologies for regulators, policy-makers, the business community, and consumers. Aspected related to new business models, e-commerce, cross-border transanctions and communications, and consumer protection will be tackled during the event.

Participants will include ITU member states, ITU-D sector members, associates, and members of the academic community.
