ITU CWG-Internet – 3rd Open Consultation Meeting

[Update] Dr Jovan Kurbalija, Director of DiploFoundation and Head of the Geneva Internet Platform, will particiate in the open consultation meeting, and will speak in an introductory panel.

The 3rd Physical Open Consultation Meeting of the ITU Council Working Group on International Internet-related Public Policy Issues (CWG-Internet) will be held on 11 October, at the ITU Headquarters, in Geneva, Switzerland.

The meeting will be dedicated to discussions and sharing of experiences and best practices on the topic of ‘Building an enabling environment for access to the Internet’. The topic also constitute the subject of an online consultation launched by the Working Group in February 2016.

The CWG-Internet was established by the ITU Council Resolution 1336, with the aim to identify, study, and develop matters related to international Internet-related public policy issues. The Group is limited to member states, with open consultations to all stakeholders. Following the instruction of the Plenipotentiary Conference 2014, the ITU Council revised its Resolution 1344 (Mod. 2015) resolving that the CWG-Internet should hold both open online consultation and physical open consultation meetings, with remote participation, within a defined period prior to each CWG-Internet meeting.
