Global leaders pledge for responsible AI at the 2023 GPAI Summit in New Delhi

The 2023 Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) Summit in New Delhi brought together diverse stakeholders aiming to prioritise responsible collaboration in AI. Over three days, professionals from various fields discussed critical topics such as responsible AI, data governance, future work trends, and innovation. The primary outcome of the summit was the 2023 GPAI Ministerial Recommendation. 

The Ministerial Declaration reiterated its dedication to nurturing reliable AI aligned with democratic values, human rights, and innovation. The declaration acknowledges AI’s potential for economic growth while recognising risks like misinformation, unemployment, and violations of human rights. Emphases remained on fair access to AI resources and inclusive involvement. GPAI’s role in tackling societal issues via practical AI projects and its upcoming focus on collaborative global partnerships were highlighted.

Additionally, the declaration details intentions to bolster AI’s role in sustainable agriculture and stresses the necessity of solid expertise, infrastructure, and governance for responsible AI adoption worldwide. The declaration concluded with a commitment to GPAI’s visibility, engagement with global organisations, and inclusive membership to tackle global challenges.
