Joint Declaration on freedom of expression and “fake news”, disinformation and propaganda

Resolutions and Declarations

The Joint Declaration on freedom of expression and “fake news”, disinformation and propaganda is an effort to identify and address growing issues around disinformation. The opening statement of the Declaration outlines the current challenges arising from disinformation, and the remaining section, organized as a six-point program, proposes actions to be taken and standards to be met in order to combat the issue. The six areas of concentration include General Principles; Standards on Disinformation and Propaganda; Enabling Environment for Freedom of Expression; Intermediaries; Journalists and Media Outlets; and Stakeholders cooperation.
