Imagine Lens brings free AI image prompts to Snapchat
The AI Lens by Snapchat is now free in the US with limited generations for non-subscribers.
Snapchat is rolling out Imagine Lens, its first open-prompt AI image tool, free for users in the US. Launched for subscribers in September, it now lets anyone type prompts like ‘turn me into an alien.’ Creations can be shared with friends, Stories, or exported outside the app.
The Lens works inside the Snapchat camera for quick edits and generative scenes. Users can try costumes, remix selfies, or stylize everyday moments in seconds. Snap urges transparent, responsible sharing alongside the fun.
Access is US-only at launch, with limited free generations for non-subscribers. Snap plans expansion to Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia next. Broader availability will roll out in phases.
Rivals are moving too, from Meta’s AI video tools to OpenAI’s Sora cameos. Snap is pitching speed, safety, and in-camera convenience. The aim is to create content casually without disrupting the chat flow.
Snap is also ending unlimited free Memories storage. Free accounts shift to a 5GB cap, effective with the update. Extra space is available via Snapchat Plus and Platinum plans.
