Microsoft has introduced Project Perception, an AI-powered cybersecurity platform that uses specialised AI agents and multiple AI models to help organisations detect and respond to increasingly fast-moving cyber threats.

The platform combines security signals, contextual information and multiple AI models to improve threat detection and response across enterprise environments. According to Microsoft, specialised red, blue and green team AI agents collaborate to identify vulnerabilities, assess risks and recommend or implement protective actions while keeping human operators in control.

Rather than relying on a single AI model, the system selects the model best suited to each task based on factors such as performance, speed and cost.

Project Perception will enter public preview on 3 August as Microsoft expands its AI-driven cybersecurity portfolio. The company said the platform has been developed in line with its Responsible AI principles and is intended to provide scalable protection against evolving cyber threats.

The launch reflects a broader shift in cybersecurity from AI-assisted tools towards AI-enabled security operations capable of analysing and responding to threats at machine speed. As cyberattacks become faster and more sophisticated, organisations are increasingly exploring autonomous systems that can support human analysts in identifying and containing incidents.
