Samsung expands Wallet with stablecoin plans

Samsung has launched its browser for Windows, enabling seamless cross-device browsing and introducing AI tools

Samsung Electronics has announced plans to introduce stablecoin support to Samsung Wallet as part of a broader strategy to expand its digital payment ecosystem. The move aims to combine payments, rewards and digital assets within a single mobile wallet experience.

Speaking during the Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung product manager Lee Dinham said Samsung Wallet would evolve beyond traditional payment methods by embracing new forms of digital value, including stablecoins. He added that the company intends to become one of the first major smartphone brands to offer native stablecoin functionality, enabling faster and more trusted digital value transfers.

Further details remain limited, with Samsung yet to reveal which stablecoins will be supported, when the feature will launch or which partners will be involved. The announcement follows the company’s continued efforts to integrate blockchain technology into its mobile services.

Samsung has steadily expanded its digital finance offering in recent years. In 2025, the company partnered with Coinbase to allow eligible Galaxy users in the United States to purchase cryptocurrencies through Samsung Wallet, while its Wallet platform already supports payment cards, rewards and other financial services.

Why does it matter?

Samsung’s entry into stablecoin payments highlights how major consumer technology companies are increasingly viewing digital assets as a practical feature rather than a niche investment product. Wider integration into everyday mobile wallets could accelerate mainstream adoption by making blockchain-based payments more accessible to millions of smartphone users.

Growing support from global technology firms may also encourage regulators, payment providers and financial institutions to advance stablecoin frameworks and related infrastructure. As competition intensifies, digital wallets are likely to evolve into broader financial platforms that combine traditional payment methods with tokenised assets and other digital financial services.
