The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is set to launch the fourth edition of its landmark report, Greening Digital Companies: Monitoring Emissions and Climate Commitments 2025, on 5 June 2025. Developed in collaboration with the World Benchmarking Alliance (WBA), the report assesses the environmental impact of 200 major technology companies, with a focus on their greenhouse gas emissions, energy usage, and climate action commitments.

This year’s edition offers a closer look at how digital companies are addressing their environmental footprint, particularly in the context of rising scrutiny around Scope 3 emissions and the growing energy demands of emerging technologies such as AI. The findings aim to inform policymakers, regulators, and industry leaders seeking to align digital transformation with global climate goals.

To mark the report’s release, ITU will host two live sessions via Zoom, accommodating participants across time zones. Each session will feature a detailed presentation of key findings, followed by panel discussions with representatives from the tech industry, civil society, and international organisations. Panellists will explore the progress made, persistent gaps, and practical strategies for advancing sustainability in the digital sector.

The event promises a timely and data-rich contribution to the broader conversation on climate action in the tech industry, underscoring the importance of transparency, accountability, and innovation in the path toward net-zero.
