Measures in support of EU Digital Agenda for the Western Balkans

Policy Reports

Summary

On 6 February 2018, the European Commission introduced the Western Balkans Strategy, which included launching a Digital Agenda for the Western Balkans. This agenda, one of six flagship initiatives, focuses on five main areas: lowering roaming costs, deploying broadband, developing eGovernment, eProcurement, eHealth, and digital skills, building capacity in trust, security, and digitalization of industries, and adopting the digital single market acquis. The Sofia Declaration of 17 May 2018 further supported this agenda, emphasizing technical assistance for potential digital investments. The Digital Agenda complements the Digital Integration actions from the 2017 Multi-Annual Action Plan and aligns with conclusions from the April 2018 Western Balkans Digital Summit. The Commission’s Staff Working Document details ongoing and committed measures supporting this agenda, highlighting opportunities for Western Balkan partners to benefit from EU and other instruments.
