Central Asia Security Forum

The Central Asia Security Forum will be held on 22–23 February 2017, in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. It will be organised by the Security Council of Kyrgyzstan and the Civil Initiative on Internet Policy.

Under the overarching theme ‘Countering extremism online’, the forum will bring together experts and practitioners from the Central Asia region and globally, to assess the importance of the Internet as a driver of radicalisation in Central Asia; identify existing knowledge gaps; and define recommendations in support of strategic policy options for the prevention of violent extremism in Central Asia, in line with international norms and conventions. The programme of the two-day event will also include sharing of best practices and approaches to combating and mitigating the impact and effectiveness of online extremism.
