The 151st Assembly of the IPU will take place in Geneva, Switzerland, from 19 to 23 October 2025. It will convene the Union’s full membership — including national parliaments and parliamentarians from around the world — for a week of deliberation, dialogue and decision-making.

The programme will open with the election of the President of the 151st Assembly and consideration of any requests for emergency items to be included in the agenda. A central feature of the Assembly will be the General Debate on the theme ‘Upholding humanitarian norms and supporting humanitarian action in times of crisis.

Alongside the debate, the Assembly will conduct a special accountability segment reviewing the implementation of IPU resolutions and other decisions. It will also address the subject of ‘Recognizing and supporting the victims of illegal international adoption and taking measures to prevent this practice,’ via the Standing Committee on Democracy and Human Rights. Further items will include reports from the IPU Standing Committees, approval of the subject item for the Standing Committee on Democracy and Human Rights at the 153rd Assembly, appointment of co-Rapporteurs, and the formal process of amending the IPU Statutes and Rules.

This meeting provides parliaments and parliamentarians with the opportunity to engage in cross-regional exchange, shape the parliamentary agenda on key humanitarian and governance issues, and refresh the IPU’s mandate and institutional framework.
