On 9 October 2025, policymakers, researchers, industry representatives, and civil society actors will gather at Welle 7 in Bern, in situ and online, for the Swiss Internet Governance Forum 2025. Organised under the patronage of the Federal Office for Communications (OFCOM), the forum serves as Switzerland’s annual platform for dialogue on digital policy and internet governance.

The day will begin with welcoming remarks and updates from the Swiss Internet Governance Association (SIDG), before transitioning into a set of parallel discussions. Early sessions will address practical questions surrounding AI regulation, examine approaches to protecting children and youth online, reflect on the future of the Swiss electronic identity (eID), and assess how tools such as e-voting and chatbots are reshaping democratic processes.

A lunch break will feature two short presentations—one on the findings of DigitalBarometer 2025 and another introducing a new e-Collecting prototype—before conversations resume in the afternoon. The later sessions will turn to strategic dilemmas facing Switzerland: how to navigate questions of digital sovereignty amid geopolitical uncertainty, how copyright and competence intersect with digital innovation, how data should be governed and protected, and how AI can be deployed in a way that ensures broad societal benefit.

The forum will close with reflections from the organisers and a contribution from the Swiss Youth IGF, followed by an informal reception. With its hybrid format, the Swiss IGF 2025 invites all stakeholders interested in the future of Switzerland’s digital landscape to participate—whether in person or online.
