Twitter and Facebook permanently suspend US President Trump’s accounts

Twitter banned US President Trump’s account, citing ‘the risk of further incitement of violence’. Facebook and Facebook owned Instagram have also banned Trump’s accounts. In a statement, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that ‘the risks of allowing the President to continue to use our service during this period are simply too great’. The social media platforms have been under growing pressure to take further action against US President Trump following violence at the US Capitol.
